Let's Begin at the Beginning

The word breakfast means just that, "breaking the fast". You haven't eaten for hours and your body needs to be refueled. When you eat breakfast it jumpstarts your metabolism and helps you to lose weight. So start the day off right with a good healthy breakfast that includes a mix of protein and carbs. An example would be oatmeal with cinnamon, blueberries and nuts or flaxseed (or any fruit/nut combination you prefer). The oatmeal provides energy (carbs) from whole grains, the fruit provides antioxidants and vitamins, and the cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar levels. Add some protein such as 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites, or 1/2 cup of low sugar yogurt and you have a well rounded breakfast to get your motor cranking. If you are in a rush, try a whole wheat english muffin with a tablespoon of Natural Peanut Butter (there's no added sugars), and grab a banana for a quick breakfast to go.
