Every Body Walk!

More than 61% of Americans over the age of 20 are overweight. Physical activity studies conducted in the last 10 years show that only 12% of the population participates in a vigorous exercise program, and 54% do not even exercise at a moderate intensity for 30 min. a day. Expanding waistlines can cost us more than having to buy bigger clothes. Obesity leads to illnesses such heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and depression.

It is my desire to help people become healthier by making small changes in their daily lives. That’s why when Every Body Walk! contacted me to help promote their campaign, I was happy to help! The Every Body Walk! campaign was started by Kaiser Permanente in January 2011 to get Americans up and moving to help counteract the negative health impact of a sedentary lifestyle.

The American College of Sports Medicine, their partner in this campaign, recommends 30 minutes a day of moderate-intensity activity 5 days a week. Anyone can meet this easy goal with a little commitment and encouragement.

Visit their website for informative videos and inspiring stories. Complete the Pledge to Walk form, grab a friend and start improving your health.

This is a great campaign. Encourage one another by visiting their Facebook page and posting your successes. You can find them at http://www.everybodywalk.org and www.facebook.com/everybodywalk

Good Luck!
