BOOTCAMP IN THE PARK

Summer is here and the kids are out of school; finding time to fit in your workout may be more of a challenge. An easy solution – head to the park! Not only will the kids have fun, but you can easily fit in your workout while they play.

Almost every park has a play area for the kids. You can also use this equipment to work your body in ways that you wouldn’t in a gym. Climb the monkey bars, crawl through the tunnels, climb the slide ladder – you can turn almost anything into a piece of fitness equipment.  Not only will your body benefit from the exercise, but being out in the fresh air is sure to give your mood a boost!

All you need is a bottle of water , a park bench, some monkey bars and YOU! You can use the workout below, or create your own. Just choose from basic bodyweight exercises and perform them in a circuit fashion – like the one below. I also found a cool park workout at Fitness Magazine.com that you might enjoy.

To perform Bench Plank: Place hands on bench seat, walk feet back until body is in alignment. (traditional plank but with hands or forearms resting on bench).

I actually did a circuit like this last summer at our park---and it was FABULUS! And what was better was my son saying "Chase me!" Worked out great!

This is awesome! I've done workouts at the park before but only when I have a friend to go with. We alternate watching the kids and working out. It is a beautiful thing!

I agree with this. Equipment found in a park to work out is a great idea. This workout would be stellar too. All the mommies would be jealous.
